CATHERINE MAY "KIT" CHISHOLM

CHISHOLM, CATHERINE MAY "KIT"- Catherine May "Kit" Chisholm, 95, died on Saturday, December 1, 2007, peacefully in her sleep, at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, where she had been a resident since 1995. Catherine was born on May 17, 1912, at Frasers Mills, Antigonish County, the eldest child of Malcolm W. and Jessie Ann (MacDonald) Sinclair. She was educated at the Frasers Mills School and after completing Grade 11 at Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish, she attended the Nova Scotia Normal School. From 1928 to 1942 she taught at a number of one-room schools in Antigonish County, including Glen Alpine, Lochaber, Frasers Mills and Glassburn. On July 14, 1941, she married Angus J. Chisholm who passed away on January 16, 2001, in the 60th year of their marriage. The family lived at Glassburn before moving to Antigonish in the 1950's. Catherine is survived by her children, Paschal G. (Mary T. Hansen), Saint John, NB, Malcolm J. (Heather Kirkwood), Iqaluit, NU, and Edmonton, AB, and Jessie M. (Claude Quigley), St. John's, NL; one sister, Rita Sinclair, Salmon Arm, BC; eight grandchildren, Eric Chisholm, Victoria, BC, Beth Chisholm, Edmonton, AB, Colleen Quigley (Marijn Companjen), St. John's, NL, Ryan Quigley (Erin Benoit), Kelowna, BC, Tara (Jerome Dick), Saint John, NB, Tonya (Peter Crowhurst) Fredericton, NB, Rochelle Chisholm (Adam Fletcher), Halifax, and Gregor Chisholm, Toronto; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Matina, MacLaren, Spencer and Cassius; sisters-in-law, Margaret Chisholm, Antigonish, and Eileen Sinclair, Watertown, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Alexander and Charles, both of Massachusetts; and her sister, Peggy (Mrs. Doug McAllen), Red Rock, ON. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Monday in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home Chapel, Antigonish, Rev. Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial in St. Ninian's Cemetery, Antigonish.
