MELVIN J.B. GAUDET
GAUDET, MELVIN J.B. - It is with great sadness we announce the death of Melvin Gaudet, which occurred on Tuesday January, 22nd, 2008. Born on January, 7th, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Ina (Mason) Gaudet. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Constance (Brewer); four sons, Gary M., Edward W. (Ruth), John J. (Lori) and Paul B. (Wendy) all of Saint John; daughter, Melanie Gaudet-McCarthy (Marty) of Quispamsis; brother, Ronald (Margaret) of Saint John, NB; eight grandchildren, Gary Chamberlain, Alyssa, Jaimee Gaudet and Matthew, Drew, Emily Gaudet, Ben, Cameron McCarthy; one great grandchild, Chloe Chamberlain; one aunt and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Brothers in-law, Jack (Edna) Brewer, Doug Myers; sisters in-law, Muriel Parkinson, Kathleen Risk, Joyce Brewer and Grace Brewer. Besides his parents, Melvin was predeceased by his sister, Joan Myers. Melvin retired from the Sugar Refinery as shift supervisor after 45 years of loyal service. He was past grand knight and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8364, and a member of the 4th Degree; drummer with the Caledonia Pipe Band; belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 Bowling League and sang with the senior choir at St. Joachim's Church. Mel's greatest passion in life was his family, and nothing gave him greater joy than the company, laughter, and beauty of his beloved grandchildren, whom he loves with all his being. The Montreal Canadiens fan club lost one of its longest serving and most unforgiving members with the passing of Mel, and every game will bring fond memories of his dedication to his team. Funeral arrangements are under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB. (646-2424). Visitations will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 and Friday, January 25th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. There will be a Knights of Columbus Tribute on Friday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 10am from Fundy Funeral Home to St. Joachim's Church. Interment will follow the service to Saint Joseph's Cemetery.
