McCASKILL, VIOLA S. - Viola S. McCaskill of Lakewood passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, on Thursday, February 14, 2008. She was born on Christmas Day, 1911 in Gould, QC to the late Gordon F. and Annie (Shannon) McCaskill. Viola was a draftswoman for the Canadian Army and was a veteran of WWII. She worked for Otis Elevator as a stenographer for many years, retiring in 1976. Viola was a member of Stella Maris Catholic Church and an auxiliary member of the Legion Of Mary. She is survived by her sister, Florence McCaffrey of Saint John; special nephew, Bobby Clarke of St. Stephen; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents, Viola was predeceased by four brothers, Gerald, Joseph, James and Urban McCaskill; five sisters, Marion Clarke, Zita McCaskill, Edna McCaskill, Stella Maris McCaskill and Barbara (Clarke) McPhee. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday, February 17th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Legion Tribute service will take place at 7:30 p.m.at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church on Monday, February 18th, 2008 at 12:05 p.m. A private family interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery will take place at a later date.
