WILLIAM HARVEY HILBORN
HILBORN, WILLIAM HARVEY - The death of William H. Hilborn occurred at his residence at the Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton, NB on Friday, February 15th, 2008. Born in Guelph, Ontario on March 27th, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Grace (Clark) Hilborn, and husband of the late Mildred Bernice (Smith) Hilborn. William served in World War II as a radar technician with the R.C.A.F. and was a retired Professor of Forestry at the University of New Brunswick. He spent many years as a volunteer with local Boy Scouts and School Boy Hockey associations. Survived by his son, William Hilborn Jr. (Francesca) of Victoria, BC; his two daughters, Susan E. Burns (Richard P.) of Fredericton and J. Jane Hilborn (Nabil) of Beaconsfield, PQ; as well as five grandchildren, Kate and David Hilborn, Jane Burns and Martin and Lauren Belouni. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mildred; as well as his sister, Mary Hilborn Smith. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the extra special care and attention provided to our father by the staff at the Veterans Health Unit. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Bob Jones officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the memorial service. A graveside service will take place at the Blackwell Cemetery, Sarnia, Ontario at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes in Bill's honor may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home.
