DESCHENES, WALLACE M. - At the Grand Falls Manor, February 21st, 2008, Mr. Wallace M. Deschenes of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 67 years. He was married to the former Simone Durepos. Born at Grand Falls in 1940, he was a son of the late Adelard and Esther (Cormier) Deschenes. Mr. Deschenes was a very active member of his community, having been President of the Grand Falls Rotary Club in 1984-85, Co-founder of the local Jaycees in 1966, President of the Jaycees in 1967-68 and Senator of the same organization. He was General Manager of Enflo Canada Inc. from 1972 to 1979. He was the proprietor of Grand Falls Dry Cleaning from 1975 to 2000. He was a member of the NB Liquor Board of Directors from 1988 to 1992 and Chairman of the same Board from 1992 to 1998 at which time he was forced into retirement due to illness. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Simone; two daughters, Carol Deschenes and Lisa Deschenes, both of Drummond; three grandchildren, Luc, Myra and Niko; one brother, Melvin (Lise) of Ottawa; one sister, Greta (Mitch) Mitchell of Florida; brother-in-law, Guildor Page of Edmundston; as well as nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Durepos family. He was predeceased by one sister, Louella Page. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. His funeral will be held Monday, February 25th at 4 p.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls, with interment in the Assumption Cemetery.
