THOMPSON, PHYLLIS MACAULAY (PLUMMER) - The death of Phyllis Thompson of Saint John, New Brunswick and Perth, Ontario occurred unexpectedly at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Ottawa on Friday, March 7, 2008. Born in Saint John on April 5, 1917 the fourth daughter of the late Arthur Gordon Plummer and the late Greta Eugene Finley, she is survived by her sons Robert Gordon Thompson of Perth and Phillip Douglas Thompson (Susan) of Rothesay, NB; her grandsons Jay, Robert and Joel Thompson of Saint John and Rothesay; her brothers Arthur G. Plummer of Halifax, NS; David K. Plummer of Marietta, Georgia; and her sister Gene C. Moore of Fredericton, NB. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sisters Margaret V. Nielsen, Ruth F. Church and Anita H. Diamond. Mrs. Thompson worked for many years for members of Parliament including Mr. Bert Herridge and former Prime Minister John Turner. Upon retirement she returned to Saint John where she was able to spend many happy years with her family and at her summer cottage at Sand Point. More recently, she took up residence with her son, Robert, in Perth. At her request, funeral arrangements will be private. Interment with her parents at Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John will occur later in the spring. Memorial donations to NB Heart & Stroke and the Saint John Animal Rescue League would be appreciated by the family. All arrangements were in the care of O'Dacre Family Funeral Home, Perth.
