It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elvie Porter-Manuel announces her sudden passing, at her home, on Thursday May 8th 2008, at the age of 76 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Harvey Manuel, her children: David (Ada), Beverly (Brain); Dean (Heather); Christine (Kerry); Terry (Donna-Rae); Perry (Michelle). Elvie also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Arthur Porter and their daughter Glenda. She is survived by her three brothers: Walter (Fanny); Bob (Joan); Ross (Greta); and her sisters: Pheobe (Hayward); Joyce (Terry); Doris (Art), also 9 step-children: Barry (Colleen); Dennis (Barbara); Wanda (Nolan); Debbie (Dean); Cindy (Jeff); David (Edna); Brenda (Darrold); Tina; and Jason (Sherry). Elvie leaves behind 15 step-grandchildren. Elvie will also be missed by her many friends at St. Pauls United Church, Deer Lake. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted and or donations in memory of Elvie Melena Porter–Manuel may be made to the Accessible Church Fund, 17 Spruce Street, Deer Lake, NL. A8A 2C2. The family will be receiving family and friends today, Saturday, May 10th, 2008 from the hours of 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, May 11th. 2008 at 2:30 pm with the Rev. Dr: Tony Newell officiating with the burial to follow at the family plot of the church cemetery at Wights Road, Deer Lake, NL The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
