SHERMAN, NELLIE - Mrs. Nellie M. Upton Sherman 96 went home to be with her Lord March 28, 2008 at Narraguagus Bay Assisted Living Facility in Milbridge, Maine. Born May 17, 1911 in Stewiacke, NS she was the daughter of the late Edmund Roy and Annie Isabella (Leake) Weaver. In 1930, she married Percy G. Upton. They lived on Grand Manan and raised their family there. Following Percy's death in 1956, she moved to Fredericton, NB and married the late Clark A. Sherman in 1959 and moved to Eastport, Maine. In the later years of her life she moved to Cherryfield in 1994. Nellie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, and had a real talent for making her home a warm and inviting place. There was always a cup of tea and a plate of cookies for all who came by for a visit. She is survived by her children, Lorraine Ingalls of Oshawa, ON, Dawn Frankland and husband Burton of Whitehead, NB, Russell Upton and wife Joyce of Stittsville, ON, Ronald Upton and wife Kathy of Cherryfield, ME, and stepson Clark Sherman and wife Susan of Pleasant Ridge, ME. She is also survived by 12 grand children, 13 great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren, two step grandsons and their families, and two step great granddaughters and their families. Visiting hours will be held from Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the North Head Wesleyan Church on Thursday April 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Karl Ingersoll officiating, interment to follow at the North Head Cemetery.
