Mary Marks-Mitchell
Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Home on Thursday, July 24, 2008, age 84 years, Mary Christia Caroline Marks-Mitchell, R.N., class of 1945, General Hospital School of Nursing. Predeceased by her husband James Mitchell of Newry, Co. Down, Northern Ireland; parents: Reverend John and Mildred Marks, and brother Arthur. Leaving to mourn her devoted daughter Sandra Mitchell Cooney and dear son-in-law Martin; sister Angela Palchuck, Toronto; brothers: Llewellyn (Bernice), Upper Ferry, Codroy Valley; Frank (Helen), London, Ontario; Jack (Ruth), Corner Brook; cousin Judge Gloria Harding (William Dalton); brother-in-law Edwin Mitchell (Maureen), Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland; special friends and companions Golda Byrne, Margaret Browne and Paul Myers; the kind and caring staff of 2-North Escasoni, who became her family when she moved there in February 2008 from her home with Sandra and Martin; and a large circle of friends and relatives. At Mary's request, cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on July 26 and 27, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, July 28, at 2 p.m. from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road.
