WHITE, Frederick Donald “Fred” - 96, Truro, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2008 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born December 25, 1911 in Lethbridge, Alberta, he was a son of the late Donald and Lillian (MacClintock) White. Fred worked as an engineer with CNR for 35 years. He was a member of First United Church and was a mason, having joined Fellowship Lodge #112 in 1955. He loved music and was a founding member of CNRA Orchestra and played at many dances over the years. He was a true family man who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Spending time at his cottage in Seafoam and tending to his vegetable garden were other favourite pastimes. Fred is survived by his daughter, Janet (Muir) Campbell, Princeton Heights; son, Dr. Paul (Sherry) White, Corner Brook, Newfoundland; grandchildren, Matthew, Joel, Rebecca, Rodney, Patricia, Tina, Tawnya and Ryan; great grandchildren, Kara, Trevor, Andrew, Kiersten, Kennedy, Shane and Jesse; sister, Marjorie (Ian) Fraser, Ottawa; brother, Earl White, Parkland Estates; best friends, Tony Lipton and Gerry MacKenzie. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Jean (Robertson) White; sister, Pearl Sawyer; brothers, Lloyd and Roland White. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Fred’s family will receive friends from 6-8 pm today and where the funeral service will be held 2 pm Saturday, Reverend Gordon MacLean and Reverend David MacNaughton officiating. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Family flowers only by request. If so desired, donations in Fred’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice are welcomed.
