BURKE ALAN STEEVES
STEEVES, BURKE ALAN - The death of Burke Alan Steeves of Saint John occurred Thursday May 8, 2008 at the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long struggle with brain cancer. He was the beloved only son of Geraldine (Govang-Steeves) Campbell of Riverview and the late Milford Steeves; dear husband and soul mate of 37 years to Beverly (Sutherland). Besides his mother and wife Burke is survived by his children, Jason (Melody) of Saint John and Krista (Stuart) Longo of Quispamsis; "Papa" to grandchildren Rodney, Brittany and Emma Steeves. Burke was a graduate of Moncton High School class of 1964. He attended UNB and was a Fellow Canadian Credit Union Institute. A devoted Christian and member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where he had served as assistant treasurer, treasurer, finance chairman, deacon, choir member and gardener. As a loans and mortgage officer he helped many people with their finances during his 20+ years at Bayview Credit Union. In the fall of 2005 he began working at Manulife Bank as a mortgage consultant. Burke enjoyed blue grass music, hockey, spending time outdoors in such activities as camping, hiking, golfing and gardening. He loved going for long drives; on his annual trips to Florida he would drive the Blue Ridge Parkway for as far as the weather would permit. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation starting Saturday May 10, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral service will held from Forest Hills Baptist Church, 36 Mountain Rd. Saint John on Monday May 12th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Following the services interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton.
