ELLEN GAY CARDONE
CARDONE, ELLEN GAY - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Ellen Gay (Janes) Cardone, on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at her home in East Kingston, N.H., surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Ellen was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, on May 29, 1948, daughter of the late Gordon and Evelyn (Burke) Janes. She and her family moved to Amesbury, Mass. in 1958, where she graduated from Amesbury High School. Ellen was an avid gardener and artist; she loved reading, spending time by the sea and walking on the sand. The love of her life was her grandchildren. She made cookies and memories with Megan and Natalia, while passing on her traditions. Kyle and Ava enjoyed her playfullness and Nana hugs and kisses. She loved travelling with her husband and especially enjoyed the excitement and wonder of Disney. Until her illness, Ellen had been employed by Latitudes, formerly Gold's Gym, in Salisbury, Mass. Ellen was predeceased by her brother, Gary and her sister, Laurie Ann. She is survived by Edward, her husband of 42 years; sons, Michael and wife Jamie and their children, Megan and Tali of N.H.; Brian and wife Carla and their children Kyle and Ava of Merrimac; Danny and fiancee Breanne of Kingston, N.H.; brothers, Walter "Tony" and wife Valerie and their children Amy and Keith of Saint John; Gordon of Florida, and his children, Sean, Christine and Scott; and Gary's children, Sarah Janes and Courtney Smith. She is also survived by three aunts, Mary Hanley and Betty Cole both of Saint John and Merne Ann Burke Fitzgerald of Cape Breton, N.S; grand aunt, Annie Lizotte of Saint John, numerous cousins; very special friends Lois Connolly, Joyce Miller, Pam Webb and many dear friends at Latitudes Sports Club. A Funeral Mass was held May 5 at Saint Joseph Church of Holy Family Parish in Amesbury. Arrangements were entrusted to Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, Merrimac, Mass. Donations may be made in Ellen's name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
