HELEN GRACE DAY
DAY, HELEN GRACE - It is with great sadness the family announce the peaceful passing of Helen Grace Day, widow of the late Grenville Chester Day; of Saint John formerly of Woodstock; at the Dr.V. A. Snow Center on Saturday, May 10, 2008. Born on December 7, 1922 to the late James and Sade (Sadie) Thornton. Helen was a Veteran of WWII and worked as a French translator, following the war she worked as an accountant for G.R. Patstone. In later years worked for the Canadian Red Cross retiring in 1985. She was much involved with her family, church and community. Outgoing and keeping herself busy with darts, bowling, clubs such as TOPS and the Recycled Teenagers. Helen was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a member of the Grand Bay Baptist Church and a past member of the Grace Memorial Baptist Church, a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Woodstock and a past member of the Jervis Bay Legion. She is survived by her son, Gregory Harold and her sister, Audrey Power; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by son, Donald "Donnie"; four brothers, Wendell, Donald, Gerald and Allan; and two sisters, Faye DeLong and Marjorie Gracey. The family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to the staff of the Dr. V.A. Snow Center in Hampton for the excellent and loving care given to Helen during her stay with them. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday May 13, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Legion Tribute will take place Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension.
