JOHNSTON, EDITH LENORA (MUNROE) - Passed away on May 25th, 2008 at the Marysview Senior's Facility in Hampton, NB, she was the wife of the late Earl Johnston. Born in Drury's Cove, Kings County on May 15th, 1919; the daughter of the late George and Mary (MacKnight) Munroe. She attended school in Drury's Cove until Grade 8 then went to Sussex High School from where she graduated in 1936. She attended Provincial Normal School graduating in 1937. She taught school at South Branch, Moss Glen, Mapleton, The Dr. Roberts Hospital School, Fairvale Elementary, and Leatherbarrow Primary where she served as Principal and Grade One Teacher. She retired from teaching in 1984. After retirement she volunteered at the Hampton Food Basket and the Hampton Tourist Information Center. She was a member of the Hampton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked in the AWANA Program. She was a member of the Kings County Retired Teachers and a Dominion Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society. She liked to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, especially making quilts. She was the last surviving member of her family of 13 children and was the youngest. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; nine sisters; three brothers; a grandson, (Robert McGuire); a great grandson, (Gregor Arrowsmith); a daughter-in-law, (Marjorie Johnston), and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bob) McGuire, Florida; and four sons, Douglas (Janet), Saint John, David, Moncton, Darrell, Quispamsis, Brian, Rothesay; twelve grandchildren; daughter-in-laws Hazel (Johnston), Lorraine (Johnston), and Kimberlee (Johnston), and a number of great grandchildren and nieces and nephews Resting at Reid's Funeral Home, (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation Wednesday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will be held Thursday, 2:00pm at Hampton Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Gray officiating. Interment in Erb's Cove Baptist Cemetery.
