GREEN, BLANCHE (JEWETT) - With great sorrow we announce the passing of Blanche (Jewett) Green at her residence in Windsor Court, Fredericton, NB on May 27th, 2008. She was born in Fredericton on February 3rd, 1920, the daughter of the late Arthur and Susan Jewett. After the tragic loss of her husband in England during the Second World War, she was a very special "single working Mum" devoting the rest of her life to her family, home and friends. She was an employee of NB Power for over thirty years, retiring in 1962. She belonged to the Celestial Temple #19 Pythian Sisters and the Past Chief's Club, holding several offices, and over the years the other members became a second family for her. She was also a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 Ladies Auxillary, serving both locally and provincally, and had received a 50 year Service Award and Meritorious service award. She was honoured to place a wreath on behalf of the Silver Cross Mothers at the Fredericton Cenotaph Service on several occasions. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharon Spence and husband, Jack of West LaHave NS, special grandsons, Jordan and wife Carrie of Whitehorse, YT., and Joel Spence of Bridgewater, NS. In recent years she was overjoyed to become a Great-Grand-Nana to Ainslie and Gavin Spence of Whitehorse. Other survivors include her sister, Marjorie Steeves of Fredericton; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Jewett of Fredericton and Lavinia Jewett of Hamilton Ontario, and several nieces and nephews and many close friends of her daughter, all of whom were very good to her and of whom she was very fond. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence "Timmy" Green; brothers, Harold and Earl Jewett; sisters, Reta (Arthur) Graham, Dorothy (Jim McConnell), Betty (Lloyd) Boyd; brother-in-law, Don Steeves and sister-in-law, Evelyn (Harry) Mallory. A Memorial Service and a Legion Auxilary Tribute Service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home at a summer date to be announced later. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
