REV. HALLETT MITCHELL FOSTER

FOSTER, REV. HALLETT MITCHELL - Rev. Hallett Mitchell Foster formerly of Weymouth, N.S., stepped into eternity from Sussex Health Center, Sussex N.B. On June 27, 2008. Born in Hampton, NS on August 18, 1921 to the late Edward and Annie (Mitchell) Foster, he is the last of his branch of the Foster family tree. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Asa (in infancy) and Walter; as well as his stepmother Lina (Whitman). As a youth, Hallett moved to South Williamston and later to New Minas where he was involved in various aspects of the agriculture industry. For several years he was the Fuller Brush man in the Canning area before becoming a Pastor at the age of 47. He served as pastor on the Jeddore Baptist field; Margaree Valley; Deep Brook, Smiths Cove and Clementsport; and the Lakeville field in NB. He also interned at Chegoggin, NS after retirement in 1985. He remained active in the Weymouth area churches until moving to NB to live with family due to ill health. Hallett is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Georgia Haight, and two daughters and their families: Darryll and Annette Jonah, Newtown, NB, Darren, Nalan Stretch and great grand son Samuel of Bedeque, PEI, Mitchell and Darcie Jonah, Norton, NB, Ross Jonah and Monique Wright, Scarborough, Ont; Donald and Sandra Smith, Dundas, Ont; Lauren and Chris Johnson, Moncton, NB, Graham Smith, London, Ont and Andrew Smith, Dundas Ont. Also, he is survived by several nieces and nephews including Walter's daughter Phyllis Young of Burlington, Ont. Visiting at Sussex Select Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB, on Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in Digby, NS at a time and date to be announced.
