LAURENT MALTAIS

MALTAIS, LAURENT - It is with broken hearts that the family of Laurent Maltais announces his passing on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Grand Falls General Hospital. Born on August 4th, 1924 in Saint-Leonard, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie-Louise (Belanger) Maltais. Beloved husband of Hazel (Lamore) Maltais, Lou was a veteran of World War II, a war amputee and a Past President of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 52. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Patricia Francoeur, Laurent (Jocelyne) and Michael (Denise) of Edmundston; Bobby (Jacinthe) of Repentigny, Quebec; Suzanne of Fredericton and David (Johanne) of Moncton; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Renee, Andree, Sylvie, Michelle, Patrick, Robert, Dominique, Genevieve, Alexandre, Eric and Luc; as well as six great grandchildren and many special friends. He is also survived by his five sisters, Marie-Paule Martin of Saint-Leonard, Eliane Violette of Fredericton, Cecile (Yvon) St-Pierre of California, Fernande (Gerald) Collin and Odette Thibodeau of Edmundston; one brother, Henri (Lucille) of Sept-Iles, Quebec; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Norman and Nelson and one sister, Yvette Ouellette. Resting at O'Regan's Chapel, 83 Saint-Antoine Street, Saint-Leonard with visiting hours Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. His funeral will be held Monday, July 14th at 4 p.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church, with interment in the Saint-Leonard cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will meet for prayers Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. www.oregans.ca
