BENSON, EMERSON W. - The death of Benson "EM" Emerson Ward formerly of Saint John West, husband of the late Dorothy Boyd-Merrill and Audrey Davidson-Larson, occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Loch Lomond Villa Inc. Born at Seal Cove, NB, he was a son of the late Calvin and Mamie (Wilcox) Benson. Em was employed as a crane operator with Saint John Shipbuilding until his retirement. He is survived by one son, Richard (Jean) Benson of Langley, BC; three daughters, June Armstrong of Fort St. John, BC, Lynne (Paul) Gallant, Brenda (Paul) Seelye both of Saint John, NB; two sisters, Georgia (Basil) Foster of St. George, NB, Emily Green of Seal Cove, NB; eight grandchildren, Gregory Benson, Karen Benson, Christian Armstrong, Jon Armstrong, Randy (Katrina) Gallant, Sherrie (Raymond) Gallant, Jason (Tammy) Seelye, James Seelye; six great-grandchildren, Tristan Gallant, Brodie Beyea, Paige Seelye, Matia Seelye, Samantha and Kristi Carvell; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Eleanor Matthews, Elsie Grant and Ethlyn Dakin. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 14th, 2008 from Brenan's Chapel at 11:00am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
