BERTHA "LILLIAN" VICKERS

VICKERS, BERTHA "LILLIAN" - At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on July 16, 2008, Mrs. Bertha "Lillian" Vickers, wife of the late Benjamin "Bennie" Vickers of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at Beaver Harbour on April 3, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Medley and Petra Kennedy. Lillian is survived by adopted son, Joe Barrio (Suzanne Burt) of Lansdowne ON; two granddaughters, Jennifer Vickers (Kevin Vance) of L'Etang NB and Tina Vickers of Edmonton AB; four great grandchildren, Alec Swain, Hannah Swain, Addison Vance and Ethan Hawke; daughter in law, Rowena "Maisy" Vickers of St. George; sister in law, Marion Kennedy of Halifax NS; her best friends, Ellen Nightingale, Brenda Gay, Mary Olmstead, Hazel Gilmore, Mavis Leavitt and more; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Lillian was predeceased by one son, William; one sister Ruth; and by three brothers, George, Parker and Hermie. Lillian was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Prior to her retirement, Lillian was employed by Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour as a packer and also the Bank of Nova Scotia in Blacks Harbour as an appraiser. She was a volunteer Ambulance Driver throughout the local community. Lillian was a member of the Girl Guides Of Canada, The Order of the Eastern Star, Granite Chapter # 15 at St. George and a long time member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Friday from 7-9 pm. An Eastern Star Service will be held on Friday at the funeral home at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm from the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. In Lillian's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
