(JOHN) EDGAR HAROLD FRANCIS HODGIN

HODGIN, (JOHN) EDGAR HAROLD FRANCIS - The death of John Hodgin occurred peacefully at the Saint Joseph Hospital on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was born June 12, 1927 in Bloomfield Ridge and was the son of the late Richard Nelson and Georgie Gladys (Durost) Hodgin. John was predeceased by his wife Christina Viola (Beshara) Hodgin, his brothers William and George Hodgin; sisters, Marian Williston and Lucy Hodgin. John was a Second World War Veteran and Life Member of Hampton Branch #28, Royal Canadian Legion. After his service, he was employed as an attendant with the Provincial Hospital in Saint John. He then worked as an orderly at the DVA Hospital until it closed. He joined the Department of Transportation in Hampton as a member of the road crew until he started driving for Holt's Transfer delivering for Labatt's Brewery. He retired from Holt's and decided to rejoin the Department of Transportation in Hampton when he finally retired when he was 70 years old. He was a member of the Hampton Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance, the Hampton Curling Club, the Hampton Bridge Club and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and curler. He loved to have a good time, joke and spend quality time with his family (especially his grandchildren) and friends. He is survived by his loving children, Harold (Alta) of Fortune Cove, PE, Gladys Hodgin of Hampton, Leonard (Barb) of Saint John, Donald (Dawn) of Langley, BC and Robert (Anita) of Hampton; 12 grandchildren Daniel, Adam, Dillon, Amanda, Alicia, Ashley, John, Jeremy Justin, Jamie Lee, Tyler and Spencer; three great grandchildren, Wyatt, Ivy and Chloe; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Florence Burke of Milford, CT and Audrey Watkins of Langley, BC; four brothers, Kenneth of Saint John, Richard of McBride, BC, Donald of Gerry, NB and Charlie of Darlings Island. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. Visiting Thursday, July 17, 7:00 pm to 9:00pm and Friday, July 18, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service Saturday, July18 at 10:00am at Reid's Funeral Home with Rev. Leo Martin officiating. Donations to the Hampton Rural Cemetery or charity of donors choice. www.reidsfh.com
