JOYCE ELIZABETH CLEVELAND

CLEVELAND, JOYCE ELIZABETH - Annapolis Royal. After a short and courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully and with dignity on August 2nd, 2008, in the Annapolis Community Health Center, Annapolis Royal, N.S, at the age of 69. Born in Saint John, N.B, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Winnifred (Teare) Mawhinney formerly of Maces Bay, N.B. Joyce graduated from Eastern Charlotte Regional School, St. George N.B, and teachers college in Fredericton N.B; she taught in Blacks Harbour N.B, Rothesay N.B, Devon N.B, Central Kings, Cambridge, Bridgewater and Annapolis Royal from where she retired after teaching 35 years. Upon retirement she and Karl spent several winters in Florida where she enjoyed meeting with her friends and doing water aerobics. She loved to cook, garden and curl. She was a member of the St. Mary's Angelican Church, Belleisle as well the treasurer of St. Mary's Cemetry Fund, She Is survived by her husband karl; step-mother, Joan Mawhinney, Saint John, N.B; sister Pat (Rod) Shewchuk, Kenora, Ont; brothers Keith (Joanne), Chipman, N.B, and Clyde "Bud" (Lydie) Fredericton, N.B, two aunts; and two uncles; several nieces and nephews and cousins; as well as two god children. She was predeceased by aunt, Doreen Snow. Cremation had taken place under the care and direction of the Kaukbach Family Funeral home, Annapolis Royal where visitation will be held tuesday from 7-9pm A memorial service will be held 2:00pm on Wednesday August 6th, in St. Mary's Angelican Church, Belleisle, Annapolis Co, N.B, with Rev. Liz Early officiating assisted by Rev. Canon Ken Vaughan. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Mary's Cemetery Fund or charity of choice. E-mail condolences may be sent to KAULBACHFH@ns.aliantzinc.ca
