DOWNEY, CERDIC A. 1927-2008 - Cerdic Alvin Downey of Lower Coverdale passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 16th, 2008. Born in Curryville, Albert County, on August 7th 1927 to the late Aggie and Sterling Downey. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Gwen (Dunham) and his six children, David (Sandra) of Chatham, ON, and their three children, Sean, Elizabeth, and Lindsay, Michael (Susan) of Fredericton and their son Mitchell, Heather (Randy) Jensen of New Denmark and her two children Matthew and Natalie, Ian (Susan) of St. George, ON, and their two children Andrew and Megan Holly Steeves (Dwight Everett) of Fredericton and her two children Aaron and Brittney, Kim (Danny) Smith of Lower Coverdale and their three children Catherine Charlie and Levi, sisters; Dorothy Meldrum, Mavis Mitton, Rowena Brown and Marilyn MacKenzie, brother Donald Downey as well several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother Ralph 1997. Cerdic was employed at Swifts Canadian Co. Ltd, for 28 years. He was a member of the Heritage Horseman Assoc, of PEI, United States Trotting Assoc, Canadian Trotting Assoc, Albert Co. Liberal Assoc, Bridgedale Seniors Club, and Riverview Senior Bowling League. His main passions were race horse's family and friends. His humour and smart wit will be missed by all. There will be no visitation prior to the Memorial service to be held at St. Paul's United Church, Riverview, NB on Wednesday, August 20th at 2pm Rev. Shawn Reddin officiating. A reception and visitation will follow the service in the church hall. Private interment in River View Cemetery, Hopewell Cape.
