GANONG, FREDERICK GEORGE - On September 8, 2008 at the age of 76, the death occurred of Frederick George Ganong, who was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Mill) Ganong. Mr. Ganong leaves to mourn son Norman Ganong of Saint John, as well as two granddaughters, Jessica and Lane Ganong. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Fred was born at Long Reach, Kings Co. and was a member of the St. James Anglican Church. He spent most of his adult life in Saint John. He graduated from the former Saint John Vocational School. Fred participated in many school activities while at school. After graduation from Voc he worked at several jobs before starting his own Electrical Company, which he operated for over forty-five years. It still remains in operation today. For several years he coached the Saint John Rotary Ladies Basketball team. Fred also enjoyed training and driving his racehorses at Exhibition Park. Mr. Ganong also developed a small sub-division where he and his wife resided over the last few years. A Street & Mall still bearing his name. Fred was predeceased by his wife Eva and two brothers, Baby Walter and Albert, as well as one grandson Adam. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday September 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery.
