NEWMAN, ROGER ATWOOD - The death of Roger Atwood Newman, loving husband of Aline Doiron, occurred peacefully on Sunday September 21, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Born 1937 in St. Stephen he was the son of the late Douglas Calvin and Annie Joyce (Savage) Newman. Roger worked as a Ship's Captain for various companies. He worked for Atlantic Towing in Saint John and retired from Eastern Canada Towing in Halifax where he worked for 16 years. Besides his wife Aline, he is survived by his loving daughters Audra Newman of Saint John, Lisa McKinney of Saint John and Cindy Schindler (Kris) of North Dakota; three grandchildren Samantha McKinney (Josh) of Saint John, Kimberly McKinney of Saint John and Camille Schindler of North Dakota; two great grandchildren Paige and Noah McKinney. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Neurology (4BS) and Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital. By request there will be no visitations or funeral service. A private family interment will take place in Campobello Island at a later date. The family would appreciate donations made to the Palliative Care Unit Saint John Regional Hospital, Campobello Nursing Home or to the charity of the donor's choice.
