MARGARET "JEAN" HOUSLER
HOUSLER, MARGARET "JEAN" - The death of Margaret "Jean" Housler, age 80, occurred on Monday, September 22, 2008 at Home Place Special Care Center in Burlington, Washington. She was born July 11, 1928 in Saint John, NB, daughter of John and Margaret (Bulloch) Bradley. Jean grew up with the goal of becoming a nurse. Following graduation from Saint John High School, she attained her R.N. Degree at the Royal Victoria Hospital Nursing School, Montreal, Quebec in 1949. She then worked in the children's wing at the TB Hospital, Saint John and in later years at the D.V.A. Hospital, Saint John. It was while working at the TB Hospital she took the desire to travel and so set off for California where she continued nursing until moving to Cordova, Alaska. It was here, while nursing in the hospital, that she met her husband, Eugene, a commercial fisherman, whom she married on June 3, 1954. She resided in Alaska, and also lived in Washington, Nevada, and California while raising their four children. Following the death of her son in 1984, she moved to Skagit County and resided in Hamilton where she joined the Lyman Baptist Church and served as deaconess. After her husband's death in 1989, and on the loss of their home in the 1990 Skagit River flood, she moved to Sedro-Woolley. For the last three years she resided in Burlington at "Where the Heart Is" and "Home Place". Her life was nursing and helping people, working until the age of 70 always thinking of others, as well as travelling and enjoying her family. Jean is survived by three daughters; Laura Molloy and her husband John of Burlington, Lorraine Housler of Sedro-Woolley, and Linda Brownsberger and her husband John of Burlington; six grandchildren; her sister Geraldine Bettle of Willow Grove, NB; sister-in-law Christina (Bradley) Dodd of Willow Grove, NB and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Eugene, her son Lyn, and her brother Melbourne Bradley. Resting at Lemley Funeral Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, where funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2008 with Pastor Wayne Hutchins of the Lyman Baptist Church officiating. Internment will take place at Lyman Cemetery.
