STANLEY IRA MACKINNON

MACKINNON, STANLEY IRA - Stanley Ira MacKinnon, devoted husband of Bertha (Sweet) of Saint John passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday September 27, 2008. Born 1927 in PEI to the late Wilbert and Catherine (Achorn) MacKinnon. Stanley worked as a salmon fisherman in his earlier days, then going on to Brunterm as a Long Shore man for over 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was also a member of the International Long Shore men's Association, Local #273. Stanley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, brother and friend. Besides his wife, Bertha of 54 years, Stanley is survived by his only son Trevor MacKinnon (Sharon) of Quispamsis; step grandchildren, Tanya Blue (Scott) of Garnette Settlement, Jeff Spragg (Janice) of Fairfield; great-grandchildren Nicole, Bailey, Zack and Abby; special niece, Sharon Sweet of Hampstead; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents Stanley was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424). At Stanley's request there will be no visitation. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday September 30th, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Ext Cemetery 1650 Manawagonish Road. In lieu of flowers donations in Stanley's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
