GRAY, MATTHEW LLOYD - It is with great sadness the family announce the unexpected passing of Matt of Saint John on September 27, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Matt was born in Belledune on March 5, 1919, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Matt was also predeceased by his wife, Pearl (Penny) in 1998 and by his canine companion, Jessie in 2006. He is survived by his only son, David (Lorraine) of Saint John; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelda), Samantha (Ryan both of Halifax, NS and Shauna of Saint John; step-grandchildren, John of Toronto, Stacey, Nick and Lindsay and step-great grandson, Benjamin all of Saint John; special cousins, Charlie and Adeline Moriarity of St. Martins; also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Matt was a long time employee of the Canadian Pacific Railway and held several positions up until his retirement in 1979 and was also a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Jervis Bay # 53. Matt was a loving father and grandfather and had a great sense of humor. We will miss him dearly and hold him close to our hearts forever. Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. with visitation on Wednesday October 1, 2008 from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. with a Legion Tribute Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday October 2, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Ext.
