ROBERT HENRY STEWART

STEWART, ROBERT HENRY - March 5th, 1923 - October 22nd, 2008 - Passed away peacefully at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Husband of Myrtle May (Campbell) Stewart of Moncton. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Robert Harold and Wanita (Simpson) Stewart. Robert was a veteran of the Second World War having served from 1941 to 1944 in the Royal Canadian Artillery as a "Gunner". He served in Great Britain, Italy, Sicily and North Africa. Robert worked at Beuling Engineering on Helicopters, Saint John Dry-Dock and retired from CNR in 1983 having worked there for 19 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 6 in Moncton, CNR retirement Club and the Air Force Club. Besides his loving wife Myrtle, Robert is survived by his children, Donna Stewart of Moncton, Candace MacLaughlin (Joe) of Johnston Point, NB & Bobbie Kimberley Cormier (Maurice) of Burlington, Ont., grandfather of Robert & Jared. Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Besides his parents, Stewart was predeceased by his sister, June Masson & brother, Harold. Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Sunday October 26th, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Legion Service will be held on Sunday at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 3:45pm. Funeral service will be held at Uplands Baptist Church 398 Salisbury Road, Moncton on Monday, October 27th, 2008 at 2pm. Interment at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date. The family would appreciate donations to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530.
