ANNIE DOWNHAM HILL (NAN)- 1919-2008 GRANT

GRANT, ANNIE DOWNHAM HILL (NAN)- 1919-2008- Nan Grant passed away peacefully after a sudden illness with her family by her side at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, Perth-Andover on November 12, 2008. Born in Leigh Lancashire, England she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Smith) Hill of Eastbourne Sussex, England. She served with the British Auxilary Territorial Service (ATS) as a Radar Spotter in a anti avicraft battery on the English Channel. She met her husband David in 1943 and was married in 1944. At the end of the war with her son Trevor she arrived in Kilburn in April 1946. In the subsequent years five more sons and two daughters were born. Annie (Nan) is survived by her daughter Janice (Pat) Perley; three sons Trevor (Christine) Grant, Robin (Anna) Grant and Bruce (Tammy) Grant; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her special companions Suzzie and Tiddles. Annie (Nan) was predeceased by her husband David Grant, parents, one brother Trevor Hill, her daughter Hilary and her sons William (Bill), Allison and Timothy and her granddaughter Jackie Clark. Annie (Nan) was a member of the War Bride Association. She had a great love of nature, all creatures great and small. An avid gardner, she loved her flowers. She always liked to keep her mind active with reading, puzzles, research and especially history. Visitation will be held at White's Funeral Home, Perth-Andover on Saturday November 15th from 7-9pm and Sunday November 16th from 7-9pm. A legion service will be held on Saturday at 7:30pm. Memorial service will be held on Monday November 17th at 2pm from the Trinity Anglican Church with Archdeacon Walter Williams officiating. Memorial donations to the Southern Victoria Cancer Fund or donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to White's Funeral Home, Perth-Andover, NB.
