BENSON, MR. JAMES WILFRED - (Jimmy) of Seal Cove Grand Manan Island was called home to be with the Lord on Friday November 14, 2008 at the age of 78. Born of the late Walter and Kate (Benson) Benson in Seal Cove. Jimmy served the Lord and was a family man first and foremost. He was a faithful member of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church family, was a Deacon and also an Usher at the church. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and for many years was well known in the Bay of Fundy fishing community as the Captain of the Connors Brothers Sardine Carrier "Haven Lady". His warm friendly smile will be missed by his many friends and neighbors. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Frances (Cook) Benson at home. His three daughters; Kathy (Stephen) Brewer of Keswick Ridge, NB, Denise (Dana) Brown of North Head, NB, and Joanne (Alex) Daggett of Quispamsis, NB. Also his son Pete (Ginnie) Benson of Nashville Tenn., USA. Eleven grand children, eight great grand children, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers Alfred and Cameron. Visiting will be held from Ells Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday November 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm from the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating. Interment will follow at the Spruce Grove Cemetery. Jimmy's family has requested donations may be made to the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church, the Grand Manan Nursing Home, Gideon's, or Bethany Bible College.
