JOHN ALEXANDER "ALEX" MACKAY

MACKAY, JOHN ALEXANDER "ALEX" - It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of Alex MacKay of Riverview, beloved husband of Joan (Robertson). Born in Pictou, NS in 1934 he was the son of the late John D. and Mary E. (Johnstone) MacKay. Besides his wife he will be dearly missed by his children Wendy (Brion Crossman) of Quispamsis, Brad (Hilary) of Mount Forest, ON, daughter in law Debbie (Deb) MacKay of Dartmouth, grandchildren; Christine (Steve Ronacher), Jennifer (Dave Murphy), Jamie (Christin Davis), Laura and Elizabeth, great grandchildren; Lucais, Emma-Lynn, Kaylee, William and Cameron, brothers; George and Edward (Carol), sister Dolly Veno, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Bill, two brothers; Ross and Robert and a sister Annie Soley. He was the world's best father and most loving Papa, he took so much pride in his grandchildren and actively participated in all their accomplishments. His enthusiasm for life was contagious and brought out the best in everyone around him. He loved to win at cards, a good game of golf or just simply being outdoors. Alex retired from Lounsbury's Truck as service manager with over 36 years service. He was a very active member of his community; a Director of the NB Children's Foundation, a volunteer at the Moncton Hospital, the Albert County Food Bank and Christmas Aid, Trinity United Church and was a member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club. The family will receive visitors and friends at Cobb's Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm.
