EVA MAE DELONG

DELONG, EVA MAE- Eva Mae DeLong passed away after a lengthy illness on Thursday November 20, 2008 in Saint John. Born and raised in West Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Parker Lindsay "Clyde" and Minnie Mae (Tucker) Harned. In her early years she worked at Irving Oil, then settled into her life as a loving homemaker. She also resided in Montreal and Toronto where she raised her family. The West Side was never far from her heart and returned to the city in 1988 after her husband, Ronald passed away. Eva was a warm and loving individual who liked to have fun and was a great friend to all. She was very gifted musically in both singing and playing the piano; often the life of the party. Even in recent years no matter her health, music would lift her spirits and she still would sit at a piano or sing a song. Eva is survived by, sons, Derek (Jessica) DeLong, Quispamsis; Todd DeLong, Mississauga,Ontario; brothers, Edward (Ann) Harned; Colin "Cookie" Harned; both of Saint John; grandchildren, Emma DeLong and Michael DeLong. Eva was predeceased by husband, Ronald DeLong, son, Wayne DeLong and sister, Katherine Murray. Resting at Castle "Fallsview Chapel" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visitation on Sunday, November 23, from 1 p.m. until time of the service at 2:30 p.m. from the funeral home chapel.
