RODNEY DEGRACE
DEGRACE, RODNEY - It is with sadness that the family of Rodney Gregory DeGrace announces his passing. Born May 25th, 1933, he was the son of Daniel and Adeline DeGrace (nee Melanson). He is survived by his wife Anatalie (nee Tremblay), a son Michael (Pamela Kennedy) of Toronto, daughter Carolyn (Brian Fitzpatrick) and grand -daughter Emma; along with three brothers, Bernel, Robert and Keith of Bathurst. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Bathurst, he earned a Bachelor's degree from St. Thomas University in Chatham, and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Moncton. His career in education included teaching, Vice-Principal, and Principal positions in the Bathurst region, as well as in the Montreal area. He formerly participated in the family business and was a past director of The DeGrace Group. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and of the Bathurst branch of the New Brunswick Retired Teachers' Association. He was a member of the local chapter of the Irish Cultural Society and, with his love of music and great affection for his paternal Irish ancestry, he was an active participant in the North Shore Fiddlers (Les Violins de la Cote Nord) musical group. His many friends included fellow participants in area snowmobiling and camping excursions. Visitation is at Elhatton's Funeral Home on Sunday, November 23 from 2-4pm, and from 7-9 PM; and Monday from noon until departure for a funeral service at Holy Family Church at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to the donor's preferred charity.
