ELIZABETH "MYRNA" MASON

MASON, ELIZABETH "MYRNA" - Peacefully at her residence with her daughters at her side, Myrna was embraced by God on December 2nd 2008, at the age of 83. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Mason, Myrna was the beloved mother of Terri (Peter) Chouinard, Kandais (Kevin) Lawson, and Jane (Scott) MacCollum. She also was the much loved Nana of Sarah (Steve Horne) and Jonathan Chouinard, Melissa Kennedy, Rebecca Molloy (Nathan Elvin), and Kristopher Cain; and the very proud Great-Nana to Braden and Jacie Kennedy. Myrna leaves one sister in Ontario, Josephine (Herb) Jones; many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by her sisters Marguerite Parks, Dora Dawes and Carmel Havilar. Born in Saint John to the late Michael and Lucy (Biddiscombe) Kearns, Myrna worked in her earlier years at Waltham Watch Factory in Boston, returning home to work at Simm's Brush & Broom Factory where she met her great love Joe. She devoted her life to raising her girls, then returned to work at A.C. Neilsen Clearing House; later she worked alongside her husband at the Moncton Motor Inn. Myrna was a devout Catholic who had a great love for our Blessed Mother. She was a member of The Legion of Mary and was a Eucharistic Minister who visited the sick and shut in of St. Joseph's Parish. Her greatest delight was baking - many, many people hold special memories of Myrna's wonderful treats. Her family will receive friends and relatives at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, on Thursday, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm . Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph's Church, Loch Lomond Road, 11:00 am on Friday December 5th. Interment will follow at St. William's Cemetery in St. Martins, N.B. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Extra-Mural Program, Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or donor's choice.
