H. ROY SMITH

SMITH, H. ROY - The death of H. Roy Smith of Smithtown, husband of the late Mary (Scullion) Smith occurred January 12, 2009 at the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre. He was born in Smithtown, son of the late Warren and Marjorie (Schriver) Smith. Roy was a lifelong resident of Smithtown where he was engaged in farming and lumbering. Roy also worked at a variety of jobs over his lifetime including driving for Speedway Trucking, a term as District Highway Superintendent and an icemaker and bartender at the Hampton Curling Club where he was a long time member. He was a member of Hampton Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion and was Superintendent at Hampton Golf Club for many years retiring in 1990. He is survived by one daughter, Diane Saunders (Steven), Smithtown; one son, Douglas Smith (Sandra), Smithtown; one sister, Barbara Bustin, Fredericton; one brother, Ken Smith (Marilyn), Smithtown; six grandchildren; Tim, Ken, Doug, Heidi, Emma and Joanna; four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Roy is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ella White and Emma McKay. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Tuesday. The funeral will be held Wednesday, 2:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church, Smithtown, with Rev. Marian Lucas-Jefferies officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Memorials to the Dr. V. A.
