PETER D. CARLINE
CARLINE, PETER D. - On Friday, Jan. 16, Peter D. Carline, of Titusville and beloved husband of Anita Carline, went to be with his Lord and Saviour. Peter died at home after persevering with faith and courage through nine months of cancer to win the promised crown of eternal life. He was born in 1929 in Stockton-on-Tees, England, the only child of the late John and Gladys (Cooper) Carline. Peter joined the British Navy at 14 years of age and travelled the world for 15 years. He was later employed at ICI Chemical Works and worked in oil refineries in England, Kuwait and the Bahamas. In 1975 Peter immigrated to Canada and worked at the Irving Oil Refinery. In 1985 Peter and his wife Anita purchased the Titusville General Store which they owned and operated for many years. Peter was a member of the Hampton Baptist Church and later the Smithtown Baptist Church and was known for reciting inspirational poetry. In 2007 he recorded a CD of these recitations. Peter had a passion for travel and journeyed to Nairobi, Kenya four times to visit his grandchildren and do volunteer mission work. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Anita; three children, Paul Carline (Kelly) of Nairobi, Kenya, Mark Carline (Natalie) of Titusville, MaryAnn Nesbitt (Todd) of Quispamsis; nine grandchildren, Katie, Kara, Kelvin , Kenan, Emma, Grace, Simon, Ben and Allie and his friend and much loved mother-in-law, Nancy Jarnell, and her family, England. He was predeceased by one daughter Jill. Cremation will be followed by a memorial service celebrating his life on Wednesday, 2 p.m. at Hampton Baptist Church. Memorials to Canadian Baptist Ministries or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
