POTTLE, CONSTANCE MAY - Constance Maybury, of West Saint John, endured her illness with grace and dignity, passing away at home, with her family by her side, on January 20, 2009. Born on December 26, 1921 in Saint John to the late Charles and Annie (MacMichael) Brannen. Married to Arthur L. Pottle for 57 years, she also leaves behind her five children, Dr. Robert (Kim), of Halifax, John (Joanna), Mark (Kerry), both of Saint John and Dr. Kent (Kelly), of Halifax, Frances (Chris), of Safety Harbor, Florida; brother, John (Vivian), of Etobicoke, Ont.; sister, Frances, of Saint John; grandchildren, Nicole Skinner, Talisha Skinner, Brooke Skinner, Adam Pottle and Adrian Pottle. She missed and forever loved Julian. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her sister, Jean. A lifelong resident of Saint John, Connie was a graduate of Saint John High School, class of 1939, and completed training at Vocational Business School. She was proud of her service as secretary in the House of Commons for Dan Riley, MP. Her career also included several years as a legal secretary at Porter, Richard, Tennant and Riley, as well as at Public Utilities. Connie was an active member of St. George's Anglican Church. The loving center of her family, Connie made many wonderful memories for those she left behind. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, bowling, knitting, spending time at the Washademoak Lake, and her lifelong circle of friends - including the Jolly 51 Club who met every Wednesday night for "45's" for over 50 years. Connie loved to dance and passed her appreciation for music on to her children. She and Art were seasoned travelers, maintaining several friendships overseas. An excellent cook, many were the recipients of her delicious baked goods and meals. The men of the Fortnightly Club will miss her special orange cake. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of the Coagulation Clinic of the Regional Hospital, and to Extra-Mural Services for their care. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave. , Saint John West (634-1701) visitation will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009 and Friday, January 23, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. from St.George's Anglican Church.
