FORAN, JOHN (JACK) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of John Patrick Foran, husband of Carmel (Taylor), of Dalhousie NB, on the 20th of January, 2009. Jack was born in 1930 and lived his entire life in Dalhousie. He was the son of the late Martin and Irene (Lyver). Jack is survived by sons; John (Shirley), Patrick (Carol), Kevin (Lise), and Martin (Susan), daughters; Wendy (Fred Tobin) and Heather (Dean Reinhardt). Cherished Grampy of Nicholas, Derek, Curtis, Chelsea, Courtney, Ryan, Kristen, Brendan, Riley, Erin and Sarah. Beloved brother of Irene, William, Peggy (deceased), Martin, Patricia and David. Jack was employed as a papermaker at the Dalhousie Papermill until his retirement in 1988. He was an active member of the community, including being a former member of the School Board, Sports Hall of Fame and Dalhousie Diamond Jubilee Committee. He was a founding member of minor hockey in Dalhousie, serving as president and coaching and managing for many years. Prior to this he played defense for the Dalhousie Rangers. As a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, he was responsible for organizing local track and field meets, and the annual Bon Ami swim. Funeral will be at the St. John Bosco Church at 11 AM on Saturday, January 24th. Donations to the Activities Department of the Dalhousie Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
