WILLIAM DOUGLAS MCKAY

MCKAY, WILLIAM DOUGLAS - The passing of William Douglas "Doug" McKay of Boiestown, NB, husband of Edythe (Campbell) McKay, occurred on Monday, January 26, 2009 at home. Born on June 9, 1919 in Hayesville, NB, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ella (Palmer) McKay. He was a self-employed painter, Stevedore at the Port of Saint John, Foreman and Walking Boss. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army 90 Fuel Battery. Doug also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Edythe, Doug is survived by his son, Terry (Marie) Main of Halifax, NS; daughter, Joyce (Frank) McCaffrey of Saint John, NB; grandson, Dylan Main; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sisters, Irene, Gladys, Verna, Elvina, Doreen, Paulene and Florence; brothers, Basil, Hurbert, Clarence, Walter, Lawrence and Lawten. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Boiestown on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 11 am with Father Bonaventure Annan as celebrant. Pallbearers are Francis Hanson, Vinny Hunter, Freddie Hossack, Terry Calhoun, Valentine McKay and William MacKay. Interment will take place in St. Joachim's Cemetery, Boiestown, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.miramichivalleyfh.com
