MERRITT, CARL FOSTER - Passed away on Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 13th, 1921 in Sandy Cove, Digby County, Nova Scotia. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Jenny Merritt. Beloved husband of Audrey Merritt for 65 years. Carl worked for Lantic Sugar for 41 years and retired as a Mechanical Supervisor in 1985. He was an avid hunter and summer and ice fisherman. Carl was known as the neighborhood Mister Fix-it and was a trustee for the Westside Kirk and then the Carleton-Kirk United Church. He was also a member of the Foreman's Club. Surviving in addition to his wife are his three daughters, Linda (Orman), Carol Ann (Alex) and Faye (Chris); sister, Mary (Watts); three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four nephews and three nieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Nelson and Seldon. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) there will be no visitation, by Carl's request. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel".
