THORNE, ELDERIC EUGENE - 1943 - 2009 - It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Elderic Eugene Thorne of 29 Queen Street, Minto, NB, husband of Sheila (Gallagher)Thorne on Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on April 30th, 1943 in The Glades, NB; he was the son of the late Beecher and Minnie (Taylor) Thorne. Elderic was a kind-hearted man, known throughout the community for his participation in various charitable organizations. He was a member of Grand Lake Lodge F and AM and recipient of the Quinn Medalian for his Masonic work; Remembrance Chapter No. 30 and received appointment as G.G.C.C.M Order of the Eastern Star, Luxor Shriners and Fredericton Shriners Fire Brigade. He was a dedicated member of Trinity United Church. Elderic was a retired teacher, having taught for 35 years, the majority of those years being at Minto Memorial High School. He is survived by a brother, Floyd Thorne, Mississauga, Ontario; and sisters, Margaret Cameron, Lindsay, Ontario, Shirley Robb, St. Catherines, Ontario, Gloriana Hopper (Eldon), The Glades, NB, Treva Rimney (Isaac), Edmonton, Alberta; and sister-in-law, Thora Thorne; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Elderic was predeceased by a brother, Clinton Thorne; brothers-in-law, Charles Cameron, Gerald Robb and sister-in-law, Doris Thorne. Visitation will take place at Minto Funeral Home, 10 King Street, Unit 1, Minto, NB, E4B 3N5 on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 from 2 to 4, a tribute service by The Order of Eastern Star at 6:30 pm and a Masonic tribute service at 6:45 pm, followed by evening visitation from 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Trinity United Church on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. Margie Patterson officiating.
