REID, ANNA CECELIA - A prayer of thanksgiving is offered for the life and love of a devoted and endearing loving mother and grandmother. Anna Cecilia (Merlin) Reid of Chapel Hiill Estates, Rothesay, N.B. passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years. Born in Glace Bay, N.S. on August 4, 1916 daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Layes) Merlin. Left to cherish her life are her sons John Joseph (Marilyn) of New Waterford, NS, Aubrey of Rothesay, Michael (Linda) of Quispamsis, Edward (Nancy) of Edmonton, AB; daughters Pauline (Anthony) Niedzielski of Cape Breton and Heather (Pat) Oakley of Saint John; one sister Rita of Glace Bay. NS; 19 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband John Joseph (1977), daughter Jane and grandchildren Reginald, John Francis, Mary Cecelia (1964) as well as daughter-in-law Sandra (1988), brother Cecil, sisters Dorothy, Ruby, Marguerite and Mildred. Devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Anna was wonderful mother and cook she was active in Home and School and with the C.W.L. Those who knew her , will miss her terribly. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. with visitation on Wednesday February 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated from Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church in Rothesay on Thursday February 19th at 12:00 p.m, reception to follow. Private family interment to take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
