CALDER, WESLEY DONALD (1922-2009) - Surrounded by love our wonderful Dad, Grampy, Great Grampy, Friend has passed on to the next step in his spiritual journey. Wes was born on Campobello Island to Gordon and Marion (Clark) Calder. He is survived by daughters Lois (Lee) French, Kathleen (Les) Willier, grandsons Jeff and Peter French and David (Kelly) Hargrove, great granddaughters Jaclynne, Samantha and Kyle French, sisters-in-law Mabel Ruymar and Laura Hanson, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Julie Landry and Wayne Stymiest. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Mary and his sister Eleanor. At the age of 18 Wes enlisted in the army with the NB Rangers then served his country overseas with the South Saskatchewan Regiment until the war ended. The majority of his working career was as a nursing orderly at the DVA then at Ridgewood Veteran's Wing from where he retired in 1986. Wes was a very loving, kind, spiritual soul who always saw the good in everyone. He loved music, dancing, bowling, his family, friends and Dandy his Boston Terrier. Following cremation, visitation will be held from Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Sunday, February 22nd from 3 to 7 pm. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Sand Cove Road, Monday at 11 am, weather permitting. Donations may be made to Hospice Saint John or to the charity of the donor's choice.
