HAWKES, DOREEN JOANNE - The death of Doreen Joanne (Smith) Hawkes, age 70, of Kiwanis Nursing Home and formerly of Belleisle Creek, NB, occurred at Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, NB, on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009. Doreen was the wife of the late Herb Hawkes and the daughter of the late Kenneth I. and Ruth (McLeod) Smith. She is survived by her daughters Wendy and Stephen Mallory of Berwick, Sally and Bob Pearson of Springfield, Jean Hawkes of Quispamsis and Lorna and Dwayne Blakney of Barnesville; grandchildren Stephanie, Darci, Cole, Claire and Brandon; sisters Laurine and Arthur Raymond of Searsville and Nina and Albert Boyd of Kingston, ON; brothers Lester and Caroline Smith of Lower Sackville, NS, Gary Smith of Truro. NS and Willard and Helena Smith of Penobsquis; and several nieces,nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers Stephen and Bob Smith. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center, (839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood's Chapel, Norton, NB, at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 28th, 2009. Following cremation, interment will be in St. Simon and St. Jude's Anglican Cemetery.
