ELIZA "BETTY" STEWART ADAMS (COX)
May 3, 1922 - February 5, 2009
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, friend and mentor of many years. On Thursday evening February 5, 2009 Eliza (Betty) passed away peacefully in the arms of her loving daughters. She will be forever remembered and missed by her children Stewart (Louise) Adams, Charlene Milne, Gaylene Cooke and Dawne (Duane) Braaten, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by her sister Mildred Hunter, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cox and Mildred Adams, and numerous nieces and nephews. It is our hope and wish that she will enjoy the peace that passes all understanding.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Charles Adams (1977), her parents, Daniel and Eliza Cox, her brother Tom Cox and her sisters Jean Hall and Grace Skogstad.
Betty was very involved with life on the family farm with her husband until his passing in 1977. At that time she moved into Birch Hills and became involved in volunteering in the community, spending time with her grandchildren and children. Betty possessed a quiet strength that supported her through the loss of her husband, a crippling car accident in 1985 and a serious brain operation in 2006. Throughout these tests, she rose to the occasion and persevered to enjoy each new day as a gift to be cherished and a life to be enjoyed. Her greatest joy in her last years were the visits of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always thankful to them for taking time to bless her with their company. The family would like to thank the staff of the Birchview Nursing Home in Birch Hills for all their kindness over the past few years as our mother began to find it more difficult to live alone.
A service of celebration of her life will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Birch Hills on February 10 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church, Birch Hills or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral Arrangements in care of Brian & Bev Stobbs - Northern Funeral Service. Prince Albert- Birch Hills- Shellbrook- 922-2494
