LEAVITT, BEVERLY PRESTON - The death of Mr. Beverly Preston Leavitt, husband of the late Rheta R. (English) Leavitt occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at his home in L'Etang NB. Beverly was born on September 25, 1909 at L'Etang, the son of the late Elisha and Lilla (Hooper) Leavitt and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Beverly is survived by one son, Dr. Preston (Barbara) Leavitt of Fredericton NB; one daughter, Rosalind Leavitt of L'Etang; grandchildren, Stephen (Allison) Leavitt of Fredericton, Jeffrey (Bodil) of Whistler BC and Natalie (Tom) Hart of St. Stephen NB; his great grandchildren, Kathleen, Emily, and Alex, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Rheta, he was predeceased by sisters, Jean Weatherby, Lila, Muriel and Florence Leavitt and brothers; Roland and Sanford Leavitt. Beverly worked for many years for St. George Pulp and Paper and retired from Connor's Bros at Blacks Harbour, NB. He loved carpentry work and was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 15 F&AM, St. George NB. As keeping with Beverly's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following a Masonic Lodge Tribute Service, a graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery, at a time to be announced in the spring. In Bev's memory donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
