M. KATHLEEN KELLY

KELLY, M. KATHLEEN - May 30th, 1921 - February 27th, 2009. The death of Miss Kathleen Kelly of Saint John West, occurred peacefully on Friday, February 27th, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief period of failing health. Born in Moncton, NB on May 30th, 1921, she then moved to Loggieville, NB. She was a daughter of the late Herman and Irene (O'Donnell) Kelly. She was brought up by her grandparents, Michael and Margaret O'Donnell after her mother died at an early age. Prior to retirement Kathleen enjoyed a long and successful career as an occupational therapist at various hospitals in Moncton and Saint John, retiring from the Saint John Regional Hospital in 1983. Kathleen was a faithful and devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption parish, and previously to Stella Maris parish. She was also a member of the choirs of both parishes. She is survived by a sister, Mary (Joe) Schandor; a brother, William (Inez) Kelly, both of Lethbridge, AB; several nieces and nephews; a special aunt, Annie O'Donnell; life-long friend, Carmel (Jim) Harrington and family; as well as many good friends. Besides her parents she was also predeceased by her sister, Clara Weeks; her brother, Bryant Kelly; and step-mother, Kathleen (Gardner) Kelly. The Miramichi always held a special place in Kay's heart as did her relatives and friends from there, particularly Peggy (Jim) Duffy and family. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701). Visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 at 12 noon from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John West. Immediately following the service, a reception will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Miramichi will take place later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathleen's memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation of New Brunswick, Romero House Soup Kitchen, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
