ARMANDE H. FRENETTE

FRENETTE, ARMANDE H. - The death of Armande Frenette of Hampton, NB, wife of Dan Frenette, occurred Sunday, March 1st, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Edmundston, NB in 1947, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Claire (Collin) Albert. Besides her husband, Dan, Armande is also survived by daughter, Renee Frenette, Calgary, AB; and son, Jason Frenette (Robin), Rothesay, NB; three sisters, Gaetanne Paradis (Gerald), Bar Harbor, ME, Pierette Philibert, Edmundston, NB and Louise Pelchat (Herve), Quebec City, QC; as well as, one much loved grandson, Tristan Frenette. Armande graduated from St. Mary's Nursing School and acquired a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, from the University of Ottawa. She was a compassionate and caring nurse. Her nursing skills were employed mainly in the field of Public Health, where she worked in homes, schools and clinics. She later served in a supervisory capacity. She was loved and respected by her colleagues. Following retirement from Public Health, Armande worked with the UNB School of Nursing as a clinical supervisor. In her retirement, Armande took up gardening. She did nothing in half measure and her back yard became the envy of her gardening friends. When she couldn't be found working in her flower beds, her friends knew she could be found at the quilting frame. She was a member of the Sussex Quilting Guild and, for her, quilting was a passion. What beautiful work she did! Armande also enjoyed knitting and cross stitch. Armande loved being outdoors and physical activity, whether jogging, walking her dog, or climbing Frost Mt. She was also an avid bird watcher. As a member of the L.O.L.A.'s {little old lady adventurers} she enjoyed many such outings. Armande's life reflected her strong Christian faith. She had a true heart for the less fortunate. She was a faithful volunteer at the Hampton Food Basket. She contributed to and supported fund raising events for Team Canada Healing Hands and Hearts Together for Haiti. She also served as a Eucharistic minister at St. Alphonsus. Armande had a great sense of humor and loved a good time. She enjoyed get togethers with her many friends. She was a wonderful hostess, making everyone feel so welcome. Arrangements are entrusted to Reid's Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, (506) 832-5541, with visitation on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Vigil prayers will be held Wednesday evening, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2009, at 11:00 AM, from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 22 Church Street, Hampton. Interment will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, at a later date. A reception will follow the service, at the church hall.
