JANICE ELIZABETH DOBBIN

DOBBIN, JANICE ELIZABETH - Born March 13, 1947. Passed away in Halifax March 14, 2009. Sister of Susan McCurdy (Halifax), Pamela McLellan (Rothesay), Marilyn Walker (Toronto), and Sandra Keirstead (Irvine, CA) and predeceased by parents Harry and Winnifred Dobbin and brother David Dobbin of Rothesay. Jan had been a professional Interior Designer in Toronto for 25 years and had retired to Halifax to live with sister Susan and her family in September, 2007. Though disabled with rheumatoid arthritis and the effects of medication and surgeries, Jan continued to work and to travel far and wide. This past year Jan visited niece Becky and family in England, her sister Marilyn and children in Toronto several times, sister Sandra and family in Irvine, CA and Pam and family in Rothesay. Jan and sister Marilyn and friends, her constant international travel companions, had recently returned from two weeks in Cuba. Jan was the favourite aunt to 16 nephews and nieces. She was loved and admired for her sweet, loving and accepting nature, her stoicism, and extraordinary talent and creativity. Jan will be sadly missed by her many friends and colleagues in Halifax, Toronto and Vancouver and most especially by "The Sisters". A memorial tea was held March 19 at Susan's in Halifax and internment will be at St. Luke's Anglican Cemetery, Gondola Point, NB in the spring. In memory of Janice, donations may be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society.
