MCALOON, MAURICE CARL - 1930 - 2009 - Maurice McAloon of Riverside Court, Woodstock, NB, formerly of Florenceville, NB, passed into heaven on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB. Maurice Carl McAloon was born in Cross Creek, NB on March 27,1930 to Maurice Sr. and Laura (Merrill) McAloon. Maurice grew up and was schooled in Stanley, NB. On March 27, 1951, he married Noreen Cronkhite (deceased, March 30, 2001). They lived most of their married life in Florenceville, NB with their six children, Gary (wife Susan and sons Michael and Andrew) of Florenceville, Debbie (husband, John Taylor and children Shelby McDougall (Aleichia), Joleen Hawthorne (Wayne), Sarah Taylor and Laura Taylor) of Lakeville, Judy (Dale Albright, children Gregory and Lauren) of Hartland, N.B. Jane McIsaac (children Gillian Pelkey (Jerry), and Rebeccah Sarchfield (Corey), Florenceville, N.B. Laura (Martin Guest, and children Damian, Joshua, Erin and Shamus) of Mineral, N.B. and Andrea (Jeffrey Callahan, sons Brandon and Riley) of Good Corner, NB. Maurice was Grampy to sixteen, and Great Grampy to six, Kayley French McDougall, Ian McDougall, Taylor, Cameron, and Julian Hawthorne, and Garrett Pelkey, with one more great-grandchild due in a few weeks. His siblings are: Loretta Radcliff of Ontario, Ruth Doherty of Florida, Margaret Fuller (deceased), Dell McAloon (deceased), John McAloon (deceased), Kay Flewelling (deceased), Vera McAloon, of Fredericton, N.B., Patsy Prest (deceased), and several nieces and nephews. He and his family much appreciate the kindness and friendship of his special friend Mary Beaulieu-Boychyn "My Mary" of Florenceville, N.B. Maurice and Noreen moved to Florenceville in 1965 and became the owners of Florenceville Fina Service (later Magan Services Ltd.) in 1969. During his time in Florenceville, Maurice served on the village council during the early 1970's and was a life member of the Florenceville Curling Club. Maurice was particularly proud of skipping his team of firefighters to two provincial titles, competing in Nationals in Winnipeg, MB, and Victoria, BC. He was also a Charter Member of the Centreville Elks #529. He faithfully attended St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Florenceville, NB. Maurice loved spring which brought the baseball players out on the fields. He enjoyed watching the game and hoping Dale's team would lose. Go Blue Jays! Maurice was an avid fisherman and hunter. He absolutely loved nature and the outdoors. His most precious memories were made in Juniper at the "Camp" on the south branch of the Miramichi. For many years, every weekend was spent with family and friends in Juniper. In their retirement, he and Noreen lived at the camp from May to November and then in Fort Myers, Florida, from November to May. The family invites friends and relatives to join them at a celebration in honour of their Dad's life, downstairs at St. Leo, The Great Catholic Church in Florenceville, from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesday, March 31,2009. Come and share your memories with us. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Leo's at 11am on Wednesday, April 1,2009. A reception will immediately follow this celebration of life. Memorial tributes may be made to the Martin Kilfoil Fund, St. Leo's Catholic Church Building Fund or plant a tree, and each time you look at it, remember Dad. L. R.
